What To Do – Golf

Hapuna Golf Course at has it all – a rugged Hawaii beauty that comes of greens set amidst a dark lava field, seemingly endless ocean and coastline views, challenging play and a full range of facilities and services. The course is a favorite among vacationing guests and local residents alike. This Arnold Palmer / Ed Seay golf course is a championship “links-style” design that was built in 1992 and stretches to just under 6,900 yards. The Pacific Ocean serves as the picture perfect backdrop and can be seen from every hole. Teeing off at just under 700 feet of elevation, the signature par 4, 12th hole provides one of the most spectacular panoramic views on Hawaii’s Big Island – including Maui in the distance. Hapuna Golf Course has gained a reputation as a hidden gem and for that reason is always a local favorite. Hapuna’s challenging play and environmental sensitivity make it one of Hawaii’s most unique golf courses.

Steps from our condo Waikoloa Resort offers the Beach Course and the Kings’ Course.  The Beach Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones  II, is a par 70  courses and 6,566 yards with amazing beach view amenities.  In a classic resort-style layout, it won’t “beat you up” with length, but better players will appreciate the strategic shot values required. , and everyone will thrill at its beauty.  The Kings’ Course is a strategic, Scottish links-style layout with multiple tee placements, numerous lakes, lava outcroppings and pot bunkers add complexity and drama to the Kings’ Course golf experience. Over 7,000 yards, this par 72 is considered a “player’s course” in the sense that low-handicappers can tee have all the length and strategy they can handle, while mid and high-handicap players can select a tee that will provide the same excitement and challenge, but at a length that suites their game.
